During falls 201, 2015 and 2016 thre deep glider cruises were carried out in the area between Balearic Islands and the Algerian coasts in the framework of the “Algerian BAsin Circulation Unmanned Survey - ABACUS”. The main objective of the project is monitoring the basin circulation and the physical and biological properties of the surface and intermediate water masses across one of the Mediterranean Sea circulation chokepoints. The glider missions were designed to perform a repeated monitoring line south of Mallorca, and eventually investigate the presence of mesoscale structures thanks to the adaptive sampling capabilities of the gliders.

Abstract
During falls 201, 2015 and 2016 thre deep glider cruises were carried out in the area between Balearic Islands and the Algerian coasts in the framework of the “Algerian BAsin Circulation Unmanned Survey - ABACUS”. The main objective of the project is monitoring the basin circulation and the physical and biological properties of the surface and intermediate water masses across one of the Mediterranean Sea circulation chokepoints. The glider missions were designed to perform a repeated monitoring line south of Mallorca, and eventually investigate the presence of mesoscale structures thanks to the adaptive sampling capabilities of the gliders.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
