Pedagogy, Disability and Sport: Paralympies

The world of disability has undergone profound transformations in recent decades, through a process of renewal of services and interventions in its favor. Any action implemented to promote insertion, integration or, better, inclusion, includes constant and clear reference to the International Classification of Functioning (ICF), Disability and Health. This is considered as a balance between biological, mental and social aspects of the person and everyone has the right and duty to maintain good health. To respond to this social and individual need, the practice of sport or physical activity is proposed as a factor of prevention and help to the quality of life, the achievement of well-being and the maintenance of the state of health. From this point of view, Paralympism has taken on great importance because in this world of change and also of knowledge, it represents a perfect synthesis of sporting competition and inclusion processes.
