This paper aims to provide a conceptual framework of social entrepreneurship in reference to the paradigms of corporate social responsibility and social innovation, highlighting their main constituent elements and providing a synthesis of their relationship. The specific object of analysis is the for-profit enterprise, with the exclusion of all other enterprises and economic organization that pursue social goals. After having analyzed the two paradigms separately, this paper aims to identify a conceptual framework in which it is possible to synthesize corporate social responsibility and social innovation, offering for-profit enterprises a new reference for their business model from a sustainability perspective. From a methodological point of view, this paper is conceptual in nature and has been developed on the basis of the prevailing international literature and secondary data.
