Abstract

This contribution aims to analyze the history of botanical nomenclature, considering in particular the binomial system of Linnaeus’s naming system as the first example of a scientific and rational language entirely constructed. This case makes possible to treat also the relationships established, following the epistemological changes of botany, between the concepts related to the categories of classification system the denominations traditionally used for the taxa of systematic classifications.
