Some seismic centrifuge tests have been carried out on flexible retaining walls, both cantilever and propped, in sands characterised by different Relative Density, saturated below the dredge level. In the present paper the static and the dynamicbending moment distributions evaluated during the tests are compared with those obtained using simplified limit equilibrium models, both using the classical approach both taking also into account the effect of Relative Density of the sand and the role of suction in the unsaturated part of the subsoil. The paper stresses the fundamental role of such details in the interpretation of this kind of tests.

Abstract
Some seismic centrifuge tests have been carried out on flexible retaining walls, both cantilever and propped, in sands characterised by different Relative Density, saturated below the dredge level. In the present paper the static and the dynamicbending moment distributions evaluated during the tests are compared with those obtained using simplified limit equilibrium models, both using the classical approach both taking also into account the effect of Relative Density of the sand and the role of suction in the unsaturated part of the subsoil. The paper stresses the fundamental role of such details in the interpretation of this kind of tests.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
