In D. 1.1.5, a passage from the libri iuris epitomarum, by the jurist Hermogenianus there is the description of his theory of the ius gentium: a politically inclusive right, useful for the constructive juridical dialogue between the many peoples of the Mediterranean in the Tetrarchic age. In the passage, unlike what was recently glimpsed by some scholars, there is no mention of the ius naturale.

Abstract
