After more than 15 years of research and evaluation practices, initial training actions and in service training overall the naabstract Ricerche tional territory about the standardization activity on the work assessment important results have been achieved in reference two main factors: a) increased culture of evaluation as an essential element of every educational project; b) advancement of the ability to draw from the evaluation system useful indications to improve the quality of teaching. Despite of these significant goals, a nodal question appears to be binding: the mathematical competence of our students is still too low. This emergency points out the need to assess more rigorously the reliability of these measuring tools so that the evaluation work produces an improvement of the results that, in fact, has been weakly verified (see the latest Report Invalsi 2013-17). All these reflections are developed in the study through the analysis of documents, reports and research taken from the National Institute for the Evaluation of the Education System and from the data officially available in the National Statistical System (Sistan).
