Entry tests to access degree courses in Italy are procedures still exposed to extreme organizational autonomy. Although the implementation of standardized instruments is spreading, the reliability of such mechanisms remains rather uncertain. The objective of this study is to relate candidates’ results at the entry tests with their achievements at the end of the academic study course. The survey aimed to verify the actual ability of the test to select the "best" students or able to complete the course of study in the shortest time with the highest score, with the ultimate purpose of evaluating the actual reliability of the test and whether it can be a predictor of academic success. The investigation turns out to be fruitful in order to detect how entry tests can be a reliably predictive source of information of students’ training success.
