Aortic dissection (AD) have a vast array of clinical presentations that rarely follow traditional teachings. Dissections are rapidly fatal conditions requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment to reduce morbidity and mortality. We report a case of atypical presentation of acute AD in which the prompt use of trans-abdominal ultrasound (US),detecting an intimal flap within the abdominal aorta, allowed an immediate surgical consultation and intervention and, ultimately, a good outcome for the patient.

Abstract
Aortic dissection (AD) have a vast array of clinical presentations that rarely follow traditional teachings. Dissections are rapidly fatal conditions requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment to reduce morbidity and mortality. We report a case of atypical presentation of acute AD in which the prompt use of trans-abdominal ultrasound (US),detecting an intimal flap within the abdominal aorta, allowed an immediate surgical consultation and intervention and, ultimately, a good outcome for the patient.File in questo prodotto:
