A limited number of installations are recorded about geothermal pile foundations and few information are available regarding the impact of thermal processes on their structural and geotechnical performance. Therefore, an experimental set-up has been realized by the geo-energy research group at the University of Napoli “Parthenope” consisting in the installation of heat exchangers and proper instrumentations in sheet-piles retaining wall for underground platform. A coupled multi-physical finite element model has been also developed to simulate the thermo-mechanical behaviour of a single pile.

Abstract
