This paper proposes an exploratory study on voluntary information disclosure of the Italian IRCCSs joined to Facebook for sharing information outside organizational boundaries. Respect than prior research investigating the factors leading health care organizations, and the IRCCSs in particular, to use Facebook, this study moves toward understanding what information is disseminated through such social media. Using the content analysis methodology, we analyzed the Facebook official page of all Italian private and public IRCCSs. Results have shown that the Italian IRCCSs mainly use social media for sharing information about the following topic categories: brand and reputation, fundraising, and health care services.
