In this paper we apply a dynamic cluster analysis to an input-state-output framework that represents the interconnection of the three aspects of sustainability, namely environmental, social and economic systems. Findings provided the patterns over time followed by nations. Such patterns are an useful and comprehensive tool for the assessment of the country performances over time and for improving guidelines for the classification of economic systems in a sustainability perspective
