Abstract

In this paper a method to handle layover regions in SAR images is presented. Layover occurs when multiple radar echoes collapse in the same resolution cell; presented approach is addressed to resolve the different echoes in order to allow a proper Digital Elevation Model generation, with particular attention to urban scenario. The problem is approached using a statistical modeling of the layover phenomenon and a classical statistical estimation technique. Some cases of study on realistically simulated SAR data are presented, showing the effectiveness of the method
