Abstract

In this paper we present a new numerical procedure to enhance the spatial resolution of microwave radiometers. The approach is physically based on the occurrence of multiple partially correlated measurements in the microwave scanning radiometers. Mathematically the approach is equivalent to a linear inversion problem and its solution is pursued by means of two numerical methods both based on the singular value decomposition (SVD). A set of numerical examples illustrates the first results of the study in which reference test-cases have been considered.
