The aim of this paper is to help the reader to understand better some aspects of the System of National Account (SNA). It introduces some concepts used by statisticians and economists to offer an exhaustive description of some national economies. Moreover this contribution describes how the Non-Observed Economy (NOE) is organized. Thanks to this paper, the users will focus the background related to the NOE and the Shadow Economy (SE). Special attention is paid to the Spanish scenario and sources and suggestions for further reading are provided
