A Fuzzy Neural Net is proposed to evaluate the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) of a Wastwater Treatment Plant. The BOD is a basic indicator of water pollution that needs from 5 to 20 days to be measured so that it can be used to have statistics but not to have water pollution monitoring. By using Neural Networks it is possible to have the BOD in real time is a function of the other parameters which can be on-line evaluated. The experimental results are compared with those obtained with a Multi-layer Perceptron.
