This paper deals with the management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, a central issue in the present socio-economic context characterized by increasingly broader objectives of environmental sustainability. The regulatory framework and the reverse logistics of wastes are key elements affecting the effectiveness of Weee management. The work illustrates the EU and Italian regulatory framework, highlighting the main collecting schemes adopted and the main results obtained. The Italian Weee management system has been recovering the accumulated delay by aligning the reverse supply chain to the EU regulation requirements. The conclusions aim to highlight the need for more knowledge and competencies to sustain the economic and work opportunities that can emerge from the reverse logistics of Weee management
