The present study deals with the analysis of two architectural drawings on an ancient Jesuit church (Nantang) in Beijing as well as a revision of previous interpretations of their icono-graphical statement. For the first time, the drawings will be discussed both in their functional and their visual aesthetic sense. An important result of the second part (chapter 4) is the at-tempt of visualizing and reconstructing the eighteenth-century church building, whereby we are provided with insightful information to understand its structural discrepancies between various periods. Three-dimensional images are created based on the two drawings and moreover are, compared with the third drawing (floor plan), which has recently been found in the same archive, further modified.
