Abstract
The participation in international trade and the ability to withstand the global confrontation have become the central elements in defining strategies for developing countries. The acceleration of the market integration process represents , in fact, one of the main elements that characterize the current scenario. Very often, unfortunately, this process follows dynamics that impact negatively on the degree of every dimensions of sustainability that contribute to development. The alarming social, environmental and territorial global issues, suggest the need to identify new models of trade integration, which recognize the pursuit of sustainability as an indispensable prerequisite. This study, starting from the possible relationship between trade integration and sustainable development, seeks to identify those factors able to promote a sustainable business model of integration, in order to identify both the “character of sustainable integration” and the conditions which ensure the presence of such characters. The second part of the work focuses on the analysis of the degree of sustainability of a particular model of development that is characterized by being driven by the commercial integration: the Euro – Mediterranean space. To this end, the study aims to verify the presence of those elements that define a sustainable commercial model of integration.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
