Abstract

The detection and localization of a high-speed moving source emitting a wide-band radio-frequency signal, starting from the noisy signals received from a pair of sensors, is addressed when the narrow-band condition is not satisfied. That is, when the product of signal bandwidth and length of the observation interval is not much smaller than the ratio of medium propagation speed and relative radial speed between transmitter and receiver. The proposed techniques put together the advantages of wide-band correlation processing and cyclostationaritybased signal processing and are suitable to be exploited to detect and localize hypersonic vehicles providing satisfactory performance in the presence of severe noise and interference environments.
