In this paper a multiband, dual-polarized microstrip patch antenna which have features of a single-patch and single layer, optimized for high gain is presented. The proposed design starts with a cross-shape patch which facilitate a high gain and dual band operation. For better matching the heads of the four sides of the cross shaped are truncated and a hexagonal slot has been itched in the center of the antenna to reduce the level of side lobes. The slot makes the antenna into four parts which works as an antenna array model resulting in a high directivity and gain. Furthermore, three strip lines are exploited to connect the different part of the antenna in order to enhance the performance of dual band capability and improve the isolation level between the two ports. Finally, a dual polarized antenna is designed. The proposed antenna operates at dual band from frequency range (3.31-3.35) GHz and (4.12-4.17) GHz. The high performance in terms of dual polarization, gain, compactness and cost effectiveness make it favorable for various wireless communication standards.
