Despite the increase in female labour force participation occurred in these last decades in industrialized countries, gender gap still persists. The aim of this paper is to construct a specific composite indicator on labour market (GGLMI) aimed to rank European countries in relation to female conditions in labour market in comparison with the male ones. Participation to labour market, flexibility, gender segregation, gender wage and educational gaps are contextually considered at this aim.

Abstract

Despite the increase in female labour force participation occurred in these last decades in industrialized countries, gender gap still persists. The aim of this paper is to construct a specific composite indicator on labour market (GGLMI) aimed to rank European countries in relation to female conditions in labour market in comparison with the male ones. Participation to labour market, flexibility, gender segregation, gender wage and educational gaps are contextually considered at this aim.
