This chapter explores the role of gamification in digital therapeutics (DTx) to implement and improve the patient-centered approach in healthcare. DTx, non-pharmacological software solutions, integrate game mechanics to increase patient adherence and engagement in the therapeutic pathway. Through a preliminary analysis of case studies and secondary data, the chapter identifies the main gamification mechanisms used in DTx, such as levels, points and rewards, and their impact on active patient engagement. The methodological approach combines a multiple case analysis with primary and secondary data to explore how gamification can effectively personalize treatment and improve the therapeutic efficacy of DTx. The theoretical and practical implications suggest that integrating gamification elements could promote more effective and patient-centered digital solutions in the contemporary healthcare setting.
