In this study, the Geophysical Model Function (GMF) based approach is used to estimate the wind field at the Gulf of Salerno, and preliminary results obtained using the C-band data set are shown. Sentinel-I Ground range detected (GRD) data sets are exploited to derive Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) based wind field by C-band model (CMOD) GMFs driven by Scatterometer-based wind directions. The SAR-derived wind field is then compared with collocated scatterometer measurements and model wind field data from European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).

Abstract
In this study, the Geophysical Model Function (GMF) based approach is used to estimate the wind field at the Gulf of Salerno, and preliminary results obtained using the C-band data set are shown. Sentinel-I Ground range detected (GRD) data sets are exploited to derive Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) based wind field by C-band model (CMOD) GMFs driven by Scatterometer-based wind directions. The SAR-derived wind field is then compared with collocated scatterometer measurements and model wind field data from European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).File in questo prodotto:
