Weathered fly ash (WFA) is, among all the alkali-activated materials, scarcely explored and in many studies are usually employed fit and highly reactive models. This study aims to investigate various binary alkali-activated binders and their early age behavior was examined evaluating strength development, workability, and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV). The mineral admixtures considered in the employed binary systems are blast furnace slag, silica fume, and metakaolin. Curing temperature has been fixed at 20°C. An efficiency index was defined and calculated to summarize the results and make comparisons between the binders. SF addition didn’t lead to any improvement of performance even considering up to 15% mass percentage. MK employment has improved the mechanical efficiency but has also reduced the paste flowability. BFS resulted the most valid secondary component. It was able to develop a high potential mechanical performance and has shown low early age shrinkage as well as a gratifying flowability.

Abstract
It was able to develop a high potential mechanical performance and has shown low early age shrinkage as well as a gratifying flowability.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
