In the European-wide geography of the participation of the female gender in work activities, the widespread presence of social assistance structures and political-economic instruments aimed at promoting their employment, represents the main discriminating factor for the concrete exercise of the right to work. At the same time, the conditions of differentiated opportunities which, ultimately, affect the greater or lesser propensity to enter the world of work, and over time, to maintain the job position acquired, results still to the detriment of the components on which it still falls, in many contexts, the family burden, precluding, among other things, the possibility of reaching top positions in the labor market. The contribution aims to analyze the main factors of discrimination, including the salary level, and investigate alternative tools in some geographical areas, which may represent a reference model, in which the gender gap appears to have overcome, in order to isolate the factors that could allow the increase in the development potential of the female component in the labor market also in Italy.
