GBSAR interferometry is a non-invasive microwave technique which can measure the line-of-sight (LOS) displacements of a target with a sub-millimeter precision and provide the corresponding frequency spectrum. This property has been used to study the displacements of bridges and identify the corresponding vibration frequencies. Two applications of Ground-based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR) interferometry to the monitoring of bridges are described. They refer to concrete and metallic bridges. Data have been acquired using a GBSAR system operating in the frequency band 16.70–16.78 GHz, having a spatial resolution in range of 0.75 m, using Real Aperture Radar (RAR) and SAR measurement configurations.
