The paper focuses on the experimental assessment of wellness and comfort on board planing hulls, by the Vibration Dose Value, the Motion Sickness Incidence and the Vomiting Incidence indexes, actually embodied in ISO International Standards. Due to the non-linear nature of planing hull dynamics, vertical accelerations have been assessed by several experimental tests, carried out at the University of Naples “Federico II” Towing Tank, on a deep-V warped model, representative of current planing hull form design trends. Accelerations at the vessel centre of gravity and bow have been determined at four speeds, in irregular head sea waves, described by JONSWAP spectrum. Digital filtering to weight measured acceleration is applied to time series, finding that Vibration Dose Value, Motion Sickness Incidence and Vomiting Incidence strictly depend on vessel speed and position onboard the vessel.
